The First Appointment (What a Miracle)

Our first appointment was today. We said a prayer before we went in and to be honest I was a little nervous. The doctor who we will call Doctor D. (If you want information on him you can email me personally.) He was A-MAZ-ING. He was very very friendly and you can tell he really really loves what he does. On his wall he has tons of thank you cards from parents and children thanking him for all he did.

He had a good look at little Joe and firstly reassured us that he didn't have any other bone deformities so it was all limited to his feet. He explained to us the Ponseti method of correcting club feet. He said it is a series of casts which slowly stretch the tendons of the inside of his feet out until he basically has straight feet again. Joe and I had to tell Dr D. about our plans to move to New Zealand next month. He told us that he doesn't like to start things he can't finish and so he then told us about a website where the orginial Dr. Ponseti recommends certain doctors. Guess what? There is a hospital not 10 minutes from our home in New Zealand who is recommended by Dr. Ponseti. What a miracle!!!

So we are going to wait to get back to NZ to make sure that little Joe can go through all the castings with just one doctor. Doctor D. did tell us that his right foot is a lot looser than his left foot and apparently Dr. D has noticed this more lately.

So the blog will be on hold until we get to NZ but stay tuned because I will keep you updated! Below are some pictures of little Joes feet right now.

I think these are the cutest little feet in the whole world!

  1. I love kissing Little Joe's feet. I told him that one day he will run a marathon but I also believe he will be a great rugby player or some famous athlete one day too. Love you my grandson, Nanny-Ra xoxoxox

  2. make sure you get his citizenship done asap then coz he cant see any doctors until he's a citizen, or else you'll have to pay for it.
